Bloom Well
Bloom Well — Beauty for Ashes, Isaiah 61:3

There is still life after the ashes.

Christ-centered hope for grieving hearts learning to breathe, believe, and bloom again.

Our Beginning

Why Bloom Well exists

Bloom Well was born from a story Nikki never wanted to live. After losing her son Ethan to suicide, writing through grief, faith, remembering, and healing became a place of hope for others.

Ethan’s Story

He was so much more than the way he died.

Ethan’s story is kindness, creativity, laughter, and light. His life continues to matter, and his memory remains woven through every part of Bloom Well.

My Story

Why Bloom Well Exists

I’m Nikki Whitaker, a wife, mother of five sons, and the mother of Ethan, who will forever be 20.

On March 16, 2021, our family entered a world we never imagined when Ethan died by suicide. In the days, months, and years that followed, I began writing my way through grief. Those journal pages became a place where I could bring my heartbreak, questions, memories, faith, and love for Ethan before God.

Over time, those writings began to reveal something I could not see in the beginning: healing does not mean forgetting. Grief and hope can exist together. Faith can survive questions. And even after unimaginable loss, God can slowly bring beauty from ashes.

Bloom Well grew from that journey.

It is a place for grieving mothers and families to find honest words, Christ-centered hope, remembrance, prayer, resources, and the reassurance that they do not have to walk through grief alone.

Bloom Well: A Mother's Journey Through Grief, Grace, and Growth

Learning How to Breathe Again After Loss

Bloom Well began in the journal pages I wrote after losing my 20-year-old son, Ethan, to suicide. What started as a way to survive one day at a time slowly became a record of grief, faith, questions, healing, and the ways God continued meeting me in the valley.

The book follows that journey across the years, not as a story of “getting over” loss, but of learning how to carry love and grief together while slowly discovering that life can grow around what has been broken.

Children Remembered

Every child deserves to be remembered.

Behind every photograph is a life. A laugh. A personality. A family. A story that deserves to continue being spoken.

Children Remembered is a place to honor the children we carry with us. Here, we remember how they lived, what they loved, the people they touched, and the memories their families continue to hold close.

A life should never be reduced to the way it ended.

Reflections

Words for the grieving heart

These reflections grew from the words I began writing after losing Ethan. Here I share honestly about grief, faith, remembrance, healing, child loss, suicide loss, and learning how to keep living while continuing to love the person who is no longer physically here.

Some words were written from the deepest parts of the valley. Others came later, when light slowly began finding its way back in.

Wherever you are in your own story, I hope you find something here that reminds you that you are not alone.

The Sound I Still Long For

There is a silence only a mother knows — the silence left behind when her child’s voice is no longer in the house.

Truth Be Told

“I’m fine.” Those two small words slip out easier than the truth.

Why I Still Speak About My Son

I speak about Ethan because he is still my son. Grief is not weakness. It is love with nowhere to go.
